I’m always eager to find fresh new music that I like, so I created a process to generate several playlists of new music in different genres every Monday. This process uses a python program I wrote to pull in the latest releases from a bunch of new music playlists maintained by radio stations and other curators whose musical taste I trust. Unless I’m otherwise occupied, the process runs every Monday to update all of the following New Music Monday playlists.
I’m sharing this here so you, too, can use these playlists as one more source in your new music discovery process. Enjoy!
New Music Monday – Indie Rock and Pop
This is the first of the new music playlists I created, called simply New Music Monday. Currently, it pulls in the latest new releases in genres like indie pop, indie rock, modern post-punk, bedroom pop, and others.
LeeCo New Music Monday – Power Pop
The next playlist in this series features recent releases in the genre of Modern Power Pop. Modern power pop combines catchy melodies and harmonies with guitar-driven instrumentation. The next playlist in this series pulls in recent releases popular with listeners in Brisbane, Perth, Dunedin, and elsewhere in Australia and New Zealand. Most of the music falls in the genres of indie rock, indie pop, or indie surf.
