Here is today’s update regarding the spread of COVID-19 in the United States.

  • US Confirmed Cases: 646,324 (+29,682)
  • US Recovered: 44,610
  • US Deaths: 30,892 (+2,424)
  • US Death Rate: 4.8%

Bad News: The overall US death rate rose again to 4.8%. The total number of deaths in the US exceeded 30,000. The number of new daily confirmed cases exceeded 20,000 for the tenth day in a row. The number of daily new deaths exceeded 2,000. Good News: The seven-day moving average of the cumulative case doubling period lengthened to 31.1 days.

Based on today’s number of confirmed cases and the current doubling period, here are today’s projections if nothing changes and the doubling period remains constant:

  • April 29 – 1.3 million cases
  • May 12 – 2.6 million cases
  • May 25 – 5.2 million cases
  • June 7 – 10.3 million cases

The seven-day moving average of the doubling period for deaths in the United States lengthened to 7.4 days. Based on today’s cumulative number of confirmed deaths and the current doubling period, here are today’s projections if nothing changes and the doubling period remains constant:

  • April 23 – 62,000 deaths
  • April 30 – 124,000 deaths
  • May 8 – 247,000 deaths
  • May 15 – 494,000 deaths

Global Data 🌍

  • Global Confirmed Cases: 2,108,931
  • Global Recovered: 255,147 (12.1%)
  • Global Deaths: 139,848
  • Global Death Rate: 6.6%

Bad News: The global death rate rose again to 6.6%. Good News: The seven-day moving average for the global confirmed case doubling period remained stable at 16.6 days. Based on today’s cases and the current doubling period, here are the projections for the world if nothing changes and the doubling period remains constant:

  • May 2 – 4.2 million cases
  • May 19 – 8.4 million cases
  • June 4 – 16.9 million cases
  • June 21 – 33.7 million cases

  • Georgia Confirmed Cases: 15,669 (+682)
  • Georgia Cases Currently Hospitalized: 3,108 (19.8%)
  • Georgia Deaths: 587 (+35)
  • Georgia Death Rate: 3.7%

Bad News: The number of people hospitalized in Georgia exceeded 3,000. Good News: The seven-day moving average of the doubling period for new cases in Georgia lengthened to 14.0 days. Based on today’s data and the current doubling periods for confirmed cases and deaths, here are today’s projections if nothing changes and the doubling period remains constant:

Georgia Confirmed Case Projections:

  • May 27 – 125,000 cases
